I Think I Lost My Headache

To clarify, that’s not Dan Avery standing there amid the leaves, staring wist-prone through compromising lids out into the half-light and the near-distance. Dan Avery is Stopmakingme, a favourite DJ and ally of NPIP’s who has gathered what we hope will be the first in a windfall of mixes for us and you this blustery evening.

“It’s nice to be asked to make a series of mixes of stuff that I could never get away with on a dancefloor. I hope for each one to have a slightly different feel.

“/Loveless/ is my favourite record ever made. This first mix I think reflects that.”

We’d say so. ‘I Think I Lost My Headache’ commits nine-strong to one giddy glide, faltering, wallfloral propulsions that ache with the gazing rhythm of a summer in full throe.

Stopmakingme – I Think I Lost My Headache (NPIP0001)

Bound more for the bedroom than the ball, Avery hones a decency common to acts that seem as locked into the gawky pallor of Shields’ outfit as they are the drive of NEU! and Dinger’s motorik beat, jams sliding cooly into each other before lusty paws meet mock-accidental ‘round the half hour mark, fingers clasping tentative together, eyes that don’t dare to look down but will soften and subside, hopelessly, into shared wells of lash-batted recognition.

‘I Think I Lost My Headache’ is made of:

One Little Plane – ‘Lotus Flower’

Eine Kleine Nacht Musik – ‘Besuchen Sie Mich Einmal’

Mark E – ‘Slave 1’

Wooden Shjips – ‘Shrinking Moon For You’

Muscleheads – ‘Phosphorescence’

Death In Vegas – ‘Ein Fur De Damen’

Japancakes – ‘Soon’ (Ricardo Tobar Mix)

A Sunny Day In Glasgow – ‘No.6 von Karman Street’

Primal Scream – ‘Autobahn 66’

“Into Infinity comprises a collection of ready-to-remix 12-inch circular artworks and 8-second music loops created by a vast array of artists from around the world. Contributors include Kofie, Lucky Dragons, Odd Nosdam and Dntel. New submissions will be added to the exhibit regularly.

“Into Infinity is all about embracing the infinite possibilities of art and music,” says Mark McNeill, dublab’s founder. “These works are available to everyone in the world to reshape, remix, and redesign as many times over as possible.”

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh

And here’s one for all who say, “Give I ideas”. Better than complete, more than full, Telepathe is a universe within and without itself, a jaw clenched in straight-face rudiment, a friend made for a life brief, stalking the middle of a marching night and the edges of everything at once, kiss-chased the red glow throbbing at core; all destined, nervous, of the nerves.

“Where we headed?”

MP3: Telepathe - Devil’s Trident

“They’re waiting out over east, perched there on the gate. Sullen hooded and stung, no doubt. Best hurry. Best.”

You know the east gate.

Mouth opens when necessary, bloody perhaps, but not broken and with teeth grown so much into fangs and juices that run over chins and cheeks that bulge with excited air, die blowhards, just cherish cherish cherish cherish. A communion built of aching ribs, of punctured time, of dripping hearts. A devil’s trident barnacled with gut rust that fluttered, scattered and fell to earth like gone confetti.

So, confetti falls - how to start a dance riot. And they ask.

Bludgeon hearts! - with repetition, just: bludgeon bludgeon bludgeon bludgeon; heads work out the rest. Hunted down, calling out.

Loops…

LEMNISCATE.

You know the east gate. Lungzzz………

WORK.
