Sad Man Karaoke

Whispered no-fi krautrock flavours, Silk Flowers’ bloom’s wilting but they’re fine about it. Coughing up the sort of aborted sounds you’d expect from some Joe Meek-produced Suicide sessions, the New York troupe’s acrid synths sit and wither like a set of rotting Harmonia tapes as a sad karaoke bawler hollers away like John Maus at his most morose. Not really what you’d expect from members of lounge-sax berserkers Soiled Mattress and the Springs.

Released via Dean Spunt’s PPM, the recent 7” is well worth a punt.
