Los Angeles’ HEALTH are four men, though they’ve always seemed like one to us; Jack Duzsik, John Famiglietti and Jupiter Keyes battling and scrabbling with guitars, random percussion and wired devices for a unified and terrible sonic supremacy over the monstrous beats of drummer BJ Miller. Neither crew quite manages to usurp the other however, and they’re left tooth-locked together in infinite battle, like the two dinosaurs fossilized mid-ruck, surrounded and glued together by a noise that will eventually find its way into your bones ‘til your femurs recognise the rhythm and feet fling forward of their own blood-bound accord.

Part of the same upwardly mobile Smell scene that’s produced Abe Vigoda, No Age and Mika Miko, HEALTH’s stunning self-titled debut LP was issued through Lovepump United in 2007, while their autocratic dance is expressed more obviously and opulently in the HEALTH//DISCO remix project that’s attracted many a keen-eyed meddler. There’s also about a one in five chance that you’ll be wearing one of their T-shirts as you sit reading this.
