Loosen that headswell with some sparse, weird ambiance at London’s the Lexington on Wednesday night, courtesy of a rare UK outing for Kranky’s plaintive and poignant pairing of Benoit Pioulard and Boduf Songs, plus A Grave With No Name, whose debut album ‘Mountain Debris’ is out later this month. Nail the Cross 2009

No Pain In Pop and Adventures in the Beetroot Field’s annual festival of new bands, producers and art - Nail the Cross - is taking place on Saturday October 10th in our native New Cross. After last year’s trist with Domino, we’re pleased to announce that this year we’ve got the good people at Hyperdub involved. To celebrate their upcoming fifth anniversary they’ll be hosting a stage with the legendary Kode9 + Spaceape, Joker, Ikonika and a very exciting live set from Darkstar. There’s lots beyond this too - with Hudson Mohawke, Banjo or Freakout, Male Bonding, Arch M, Forest Swords, Trailer Trash Tracys and many more playing - as well as art curated by Off Modern and Take Courage. No Pain In Pop label showcase

As part of Off Modern’s week long South East in East festival - designed to highlight the best art and music coming from the capital’s thriving but forgotten quarter - we’re hosting a No Pain In Pop label showcase this Tuesday. We’re sad to say the previously announced debut shows from Forest Swords and Among the Bones will not be happening - they’re victims of prospective employment and swine flu respectively. However, we are very excited to announce a special guest from the label will be joining A Grave With No Name, who are releasing the ‘Mountain Debris‘ collection in November, and Deep Sht, them of October’s ‘Weird You EP‘ , on the bill. So, to confirm, it’s on Tuesday 1st September at Vibe Bar on Brick Lane, London, and tickets are available on the night for £5. The ‘No Pain In Pop‘ compilation is launched on Saturday night at a warehouse in Whitechapel, London. Playing live are Banjo or Freakout, Trailer Trash Tracys, and A Grave With No Name.

In suitably glorious commemoration, here’s a new remix of NPIP005 courtesy of full steppin’ omni-producer Phaseone, and a track from the manic stablehands’ latest batch of home recordings.
