No torso for the post-rad pig pile!

Rather than turn to boyed, cloud statues, Peepholes continue to swim deliriously towards the heart of the dying of the lo-fi light: rushing headlong into cataclysm like anti-matter hungry for return to a previous non-galaxy. ‘Lairs’ is torn from a new 12″ out through Hungry for Power, you should get it, get it here.

Zatori

Mixing West Coast chills with the Baleares heat, London’s Hypermagic does it simple. Soft, warming and high - evocative still with the gaudiest of primary colours.

Afloat

Both ‘Double Rainbow’ and ‘Breaststroke’ seem to exist in a yearned-for summer haze state where everything is confusing, but everything is good. Protect-U’s former is the more agitated of the pair, rattling away and ready to burst like John Talabot jamming with Blondes jamming with Invisible Conga People jamming with Aphex Twin or just the sun caught in a giant glass marble, while Mathemagic’s is a more sedate baffling, languorous and listless and all those other words that essentially just mean ’sunshine’.

Find ‘Double Rainbow’ on the A-side of Protect-U’s debut 12″ at Discogs and the Future Times website. Thanks to Peter O’Grady for the tip.

The heart as humidity

Montreal’s d’Eon shows his worth, quells nagging doubts and answers questions like ‘Would a heart still be wet if it bled instead of wept?’ What’s here is ticklish and panging, like champagne through the eyeballs or if Ariel Pink preferred the anonymity of the wailing house diva over lost FM transmissions. You’ll drift on oblivious. Felt divinity-propelled. Time for us to burst, then.

Meols Parade

Forest Swords just drafted a mixtape to promote his forthcoming 12″, debuting this batch of reworkings in the process. Two of 2009’s best tracks submerged in the same dubby zen as last year’s incredible ‘Fjree Feather‘, they show a gauzy, sophisticated control of texture and emotion rare in any genre. Pre-order ‘Dagger Paths’ now, out through NYC’s Olde English Spelling Bee next month.
