…before turning the gun on Will Self

The Human Race are pretty great, barrelling around as they do in wool jerseys and prosthetic horse heads, banging drums that sound like your girlfriend falling asleep so you can go back downstairs and carry on getting high, forcing thoughts ‘pon you like, ‘Is it me or the music that’s a petty, reptile-brained arsehole?’

And if you don’t know the answer to that already, you’re fucking doomed.

The fever + the fret

Wider than the heavens? Deeper than the oceans? Taller than the mountains? Denser than the sun?

In perfect pervasive singularity, as of right now Among the Bones have their ‘Profile views’ stuck exactly at 6666. Always goin’ that extra mile..

her tears water electric swamp

She slunk away and fell asleep, beneath a tree in electric swamp; propped up where the dogs won’t find her, away from me in electric swamp. Ghost Hunter’s remix of E.Gold and Alexis’s ‘Separate Our Hearts’ has dreams riddled neon in opportune hidey-holes, full of baleful, searching light and swung by womb-bound heart beats. The original’s out through the mighty Angular Recording Co. in March.

E.Gold showed me this brilliance - anyone know where I can get a copy of Oneohtrix Point Never’s Memory Vague DVD?

‘o crypt-oh crypt

Seattle’s Grave Babies stay loyal to their undead schtick - a glance at track titles from last year’s Deathface cassette (out through Skrot Up) reveals ‘Eating Babies’, ‘Demons’, ‘Graves’ and ‘Blood Forever’. Doom-eyed and downhearted, they’re not all bite, bite, bite. Their melancholy is as indebted to Eighties post-punk and industrial as it is to Misfits, all crudely trapped beneath familiar lo-fi gauze-glow. It’s a sound that makes being undead seem like a solid life choice and one you’d revel in, if blood were something you could revel in.

Find the whole album here, choice cuts (tearings?) below. We’ll endeavour in the mean time to strip new slabs from their disintegrating hides, some of which can be heard at the band’s MySpace page, linked above.
