Two similarly fine EPs in on today’s breeze. The hazier - Hypermagic’s ‘Tangerine Dream’ - remains perfectly paced despite sounding like it’s evaporating with each beat. The other - ‘Land Huxt’ - is Arch M’s gloriously characteristic beeliner for the sun. Those who fly too close..

Breathe deep
More glacial than the name suggests, maybe it’s fitting that Echo Lake’s ‘Everything Is Real’ holds a boldness without losing its beauty. A medley of chiming chorals, strangely metallic sleigh bells and string hit snares, it’s ‘Teen Dream’ on the case of Fitzgerald’s green light.

Husband are one song old. One song. Double time speeds, quadruple times, single times. Many deftly layered loops. Probably four to eight Tascam tracks. Is that a keyboard? Perhaps a few samples. And two voices. “The drums! The drums!”

Here we have Jalisco’s Los Amparito typecast as the hemispherical jester swinging to his own lopsided beat. Reminds me of favourite words (long may they last)…

Death at the aquapark
London’s mysterious Vondelpark fall through blue, and the flocks, as at ease as rain, ‘California Analog Dream’ rubbed with morose machinery, XX-isms and a 2-step pulse with an almost ironic kick. Resigned, languid, sunburnt, sullen – I guess it’d be kind of arduous to be conscious of every breath.
