NPIP009

The crystal clouds of Deep Sht’s Weird You EP have finally drifted close enough to catch us all in their heavy rainfall. It’s out now - buy a copy direct on 7″ or digital here.

Find a dream-goading and gently exhilarating new track from crestfallen London flaneur Tom Watson below.

“Tremendous Garageband-gaze ephemera… fizzy, scuzz-smeared noise pop that’s abstract, littered with blissfully intangible pop dynamics and somehow still manages to rock.”

No Pain In Pop label showcase

As part of Off Modern’s week long South East in East festival - designed to highlight the best art and music coming from the capital’s thriving but forgotten quarter - we’re hosting a No Pain In Pop label showcase this Tuesday. We’re sad to say the previously announced debut shows from Forest Swords and Among the Bones will not be happening - they’re victims of prospective employment and swine flu respectively. However, we are very excited to announce a special guest from the label will be joining A Grave With No Name, who are releasing the ‘Mountain Debris‘ collection in November, and Deep Sht, them of October’s ‘Weird You EP‘ , on the bill. So, to confirm, it’s on Tuesday 1st September at Vibe Bar on Brick Lane, London, and tickets are available on the night for £5. We’ve a pair of tickets to give away free, just send us an email - us@nopaininpop.com - with your name and we’ll pick a winner at random.

Swinging Jaw: Deep Shit

Watson has, he says, been “negotiating the cynical/bitter tightrope since 1987″.

Servicestation #738

Abound another find courtesy of the ever outstanding Family Time.

Whilst their Deep Sht echoes and swells, it charms essentially as a pulse - Pink Priest is a more intense ride. The self revelance and dubby echo may have been cast shorn, but a gothic charm (not to mention the exceptional taste) remains. Out on the road, going north circular, interstate to interzone.

A Rainstorm Suburbia

Valiantly crestfallen Londoner Tom Watson’s in Deep Shit, running with his eyes wired shut, hunting for knives. There’s no longer any easy prey in this town; it being one forever blurred beneath a lash of Muscovite rain, so for now called cardinal recover, tired and excessive, in the easels of piss-reek doorways and out-of-hours gated communes. One human, waiting there at the entrance, readies the unveiling of chest wounds upon the other, when an AWOL sun finds time to break, distracting blade from wincing flesh, but there is other cruelty in store; the light luring huge, fed honeybees from slumber some 30 winters deep. The clouds soon swarm again though and the tin wasp can only keep crashing through the rainstorm, onways ’til wings won’t move no more; final dreams of scared suburbanites fleeing a sting in the tail flickering in and out of compound eye like analogue static.
