Just is
Hashim B easy and on point. Sometimes it’s pretty wonderful not to have to see something, or rush to anything. This is from Dublab’s new Echo Expansion comp, out on LP/CD on the 18th of August through Porter Records. Buy your copy here to keep Dublab in scenery like that ^. It’s where they belong.
Full tracklist - including Flying Lotus, Blank Blue, Ras G, Daedelus and Take - after the fold.

Beserkers in a beat harem, Teengirl Fantasy throw themselves upon silver platters of clubland styles, kraut-ish synth tangents and broken house vocals to regurgitate the lot in a brilliant, bursting mess made with acid all their own. Or at least that’s the way things usually play out - ‘Now That’s What I Call Volume 2′ is one of the earliest tracks that Oberlin College, Ohio-based duo Nick and Logan put together and where you might expect a maddened rush through the sonic possibilities presented by the new partnership, it’s one that smoulders slow, a sole insistent loop taking time to catch at everything around it.
Build it does though, as snares that’ve borrowed rasp from dubstep’s dark motley mark busy time, kicking through splashes of synth that evaporate in mid-air like serotonin clouds hanging over downtown heads. A determined groove previewed at 23:30 on Teengirl’s awesome dublab mix, this final edit of ‘NTWICV2′ precedes the release of fresh 7″ ‘Portofino’ b/w ‘New Image Every Day’ on Merok later this month. Jam it in yr earwholes.

Give Dublab yr $$$
The unparalleled excellents at Dublab need your help to keep broadcasting. The online guardians of future roots music are six days into a live on-air fundraiser that’ll try to capture your donations ’til the 19th of November. Listen to their Positive Projection Proton Drive here, give here as they try to ring the bell for $18,000, a figure that’ll keep them going for four months. The idea may seem slightly absurd when 99.999 per cent of what you listen to is free, but if anyone deserves to profit from what the internet’s done for the distribution of ideas and recorded sound it’s Dublab - they just played Valerio Cosi and Sun Ra back to back, for example, and then switched to Phyllis Dillon’s version of ‘Love the One You’re With’. They’re offering all sorts of treasure for those flush enough to give over $50, too. If you’re not, think of it in karmic terms if it helps offset the pain of an absent $5.

“Today, dublab and Creative Commons announced the launch of “INTO INFINITY: an exploration of on and on and on…”
“Into Infinity comprises a collection of ready-to-remix 12-inch circular artworks and 8-second music loops created by a vast array of artists from around the world. Contributors include Kofie, Lucky Dragons, Odd Nosdam and Dntel. New submissions will be added to the exhibit regularly.
“Into Infinity is all about embracing the infinite possibilities of art and music,” says Mark McNeill, dublab’s founder. “These works are available to everyone in the world to reshape, remix, and redesign as many times over as possible.”
