Out on Toronto street corners from dusk ’til dawn, Little Girls peddle the purest scuzz junk. Both tracks are soon out via Captured Tracks; Brooklyn based aesthetes for the similarly fidelity shy Blank Dogs, Dum Dum Girls and the Beets, as well as the UK’s own Wetdog and Graffiti Island.

Los Angeles’ Abe Vigoda always did see the dark in the party, their carnival beset, slowly, by gape-jawed and cackling sub-city ghouls. ‘Skeleton’ clatters, it crashes, founded on slugs of bass that rattle sockets ‘til your shot-eyed, blood bleeding all psychedelic and burnt-in behind folded eyelids, behold: my favourite band on this wet earth ribbing it with their paradise punk. “Celebration, celebration.”

Crook Grind Kicks

An idle Californian slacker spewing out riotous lo-fi anthems, Nathan Williams’ haggard larynx hollers his chore-dodging routine on ‘So Bored’ as if penned and produced high on glue from under a duvet clothed in nothing more than some soiled kegs. Releasing his debut Wavves LP, Wavvves, through De Stijl at the turn of ‘09 after racking up a number of 7″s on Release The Bats and Fuck It Tapes, his solo ensemble is like the melding of Wipers’ putrid jams, Pixies’ sunken grunge harmonies and anything Calvin Johnson ever croaked his way through.
